Ile de Ré, a cyclist’s paradise!
Ile de Ré has always been geared towards cycling. Even before the bike was lauded an environmentally-friendly alternative to the car, people adopted it to explore Ré la Blanche, both to preserve the exceptional natural environment and ensure they discovered every last nook and cranny.
Ré, an island in keeping with the times
A pioneer, when the environmental issue became omnipresent, Ile de Ré naturally became the island of the bike. Young or retired, holidaymakers or locals, traditional bikes or their electric counterpart, everyone comes together on the cycle lanes which traverse vineyards, run along the coastline and cut through woods, villages and salt marshes.
Choose to bike and don’t miss out!
As a family, with friends or by yourself, the cycle lanes can be used morning, noon and night, whatever the season, for a sporting adventure with stunning surprises in store and exclusive views of the island’s landscapes. Because some spots just can’t be accessed by car, make the most of an exceptional network of more than 110 km of perfectly-maintained cycle lanes, which was further extended this year with lanes between Rivedoux and Sainte-Marie.
Ré loves cyclists
Concerned about its responsibility towards the ever-increasing number of users on its network of cycle lanes, everything is done to guarantee the best possible cycling conditions: a cycle lane map, a safety guide (Sécu-rétais) available almost everywhere, without forgetting the Info Cyclistes points which, all summer long, offer advice, information and rules on good cycling both to ensure your safety (and that of others) and to respect the environment. All of this is done with one goal in mind: to make each cycle a moment of pure pleasure and escape in the heart of luxuriant, protected nature!
La Baronnie Hôtel & Spa**** provides its customers with bike parking spaces. And by simple request, the reception desk will facilitate bike rentals from our partner Youtoo, situated near the hotel. You’re sure to find the bike you need: traditional or electric, tandems, trailers for kids etc.
