Saint Martin de Ré between La Flotte en Ré, close to Bois-Plage and La Couarde
Historical capital of Ré Island, Saint-Martinis classified since 2010 as World heritage by UNESCO.
Organized around its harbour and protected by its ramparts designed by Vauban, the city holds numerous treasures. A historic treasure to be discovered throughout thepaved alleys, lined with hollyhocks, which converge to a lively city center. Every househas a history, as the half-timbered house of Vinatière (XVIth century) and the Ernest Cognacq museum in the Hotel of Clerjotte. The village is a real architecture jewel of the Renaissance style, and the Citadel a masterwork of the military architecture of the XVIIth century.
From the top of the church tower of Saint Martin, at sunset, discover a fantastic view of the city and a big part of the island.
The Baronnie Hotel & Spa is located in the heart of this magnificent village, in an exceptional green setting. The street Baron de Chantal, where we are located, leads you to the harbour in a few steps, to good restaurants, nice shops and boutiques and to bars and nightclubs.
Many sea-cruises start out in the harbour.

Sports and activities
Besides the pleasures of the beach and the bicycle, the island can also be discovered on foot throughout its numerous hiking trails, or on horseback, thanks to the equestrian and pony clubs; finally you can discover our “donkeys in panties” and let the children go for a ride. And, naturally, by boat.
Whether you choose to go fishing aboard an old trawler, go for a tour of the island on a catamaran, rent a sailboat with or without skipper, or go visiting Aix Island with the ferry along Fort Boyard (departures from the port of Saint Martin), it is from the sea that the island reveals its character best.
In terms of sports, the range is vast: tennis, 9 hole golf and mainlyboard sports such as windsurfing, kite surfing, surfing, body board, paddle… The windsurfing world champion for 22 years, Antoine Albeau, was born and trains on the island.
Whether you are a beginner or confirmed, Olivier and Marie-Pierre welcome you in Bois-Plage at “La Cabane Verte”, on the beach of “GrosJonc” - for your equipment rental and to supervise your activities.
